NONGPOH: The central body of the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) has joined the KSU, North Khasi Hills unit to oppose the proposed land acquisition by the BSF within Bhoirymbong village under the Umroi constituency.
The CoRP has opposed the land acquisition by the BSF after the organisation found out that the BSF had proposed to buy land located at Bhoirymbong.
The organisation has also taken up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi district by requesting her to prevent the BSF from purchasing land in the heart of the district.
The CoRP added that the BSF should instead acquire land at the disputed border areas in order to protect the people and prevent encroachment by Assam.
CoRP president Bandari Ryntathiang informed that the petition was submitted to the deputy commissioner on Wednesday.
He also said the residents are fed up with the ‘harassment’ of BSF personnel.
