4th International Day of Yoga observed in Tura

 TURA:  The 4th International Day of Yoga was observed today with the theme “Yoga for Peace” at the Indoor Stadium in Tura where West Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner In-charge, A M Sangma was the Chief Guest. The programme was organised by District Medical and Health Officer, West Garo Hills Tura in collaboration with Marwari Yuva Munch and Lions Club of Tura.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangma informed about various health benefits and fitness associated with the regular practice of yoga in our lives. Stressing on the ill-effects of sedentary type of lifestyle of the people nowadays, he suggested everyone to practice yoga in order to improve their physical and mental health adding that yoga builds confidence which is helpful for the people to focus better.

Earlier, Dr Sambu Aryal, Medical Officer, Yoga and Naturopathy described in brief about the definition and importance of practicing yoga. He said that yoga is an art as well as science where a person’s physical health and mind can be maintained fit and healthy. It also improves the cognitive functions, controls stress, and helps in controlling obesity, diabetics, heart ailment and others, he added.

Yoga was also demonstrated during the function by Dr Sambu Aryal where yoga enthusiasts of the town joined in.
