TURA: Nokmas from Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills (SGH)  on Thursday met Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma in Shillong and sought his intervention into various issues facing the region.

The Nokmas led by the Daranggre Nokmas’ Welfare Association (DNWA) highlighted the problem of water supply due to absence of PHE water connections and urged the CM to direct the department to enable connection for the area.

Pointing out the problems faced by coal transporters due to a broken bridge at Krishnai in Assam, they sought that coal transport is allowed to take place along NH-51. The Nokmas also sought the immediate repair of a bridge at Nongalbibra which has been lying in a deplorable state for a long time.

Another issue raised by the Nokmas during their meeting was the issue of mobile connectivity in the area which is pathetic due to poor network.

“We are facing immense hardships due to poor mobile network in the area. We have urged the CM to look into the matter and he has assured that it would be done,” the Nokmas claimed.
