SHILLONG: A day after UDP senior working president, Bindu Lanong asked the Akali Dal and Harijan leaders to see reasons to resolve the current conflict by accepting the government’s relocation proposal, the member of the High Level Committee (HLC) and Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohling has asked people to be patient and wait for the report of the Committee over the matter.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Dohling said that he did not want to make any comment against the statement of Lanong but however added that the Committee was on the job and it was not wise for anyone to make comments at this juncture.

“ Give us a chance and we are not sitting idle and we will come out with a clear statement soon,” Dohling said even as he added that   it was in the fitness of things that no A,B or C should make any such statement as  the  High Level Committee constituted by the Government on the relocation of the colony was  working on the matter seriously and the decision should be waited out

Stating that the Committee is waiting the report of the recently conducted survey in the Punjabi line colony “(Them Iew Mawlong), Dohling added that the Committee would  sit again after it got the report of the land survey which  was conducted recently

Lanong in a statement issued on Sunday had  said the Akali Dal delegation from Punjab, the local Harijan body and others supporting the demand of the Harijan community of Them Mawlong Hat Colony for rehabilitating the community in the area where they have been occupying for ages, should better see reason to accept the relocation proposal of the government

Earlier, Lanong  had  also pointed out various legal and rational aspects related to the age-old issue of relocation and appealed them to  cooperate even as he added that it was a losing battle for the residents of the colony.
