SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) appealed for financial assistance from the state government for two kick boxers from the state to take part at the WAKO Cadets and Juniors world Kickboxing Championship, 2018 from September 15-23 at Jesolo Lido, Venice, Italy.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, working president of MSKA, Lorenzo Warjri said the two kick boxers from the state set to represent India are Ibadarishisha Mukhim (junior girls, below 48 kgs- full contact) and Nathaniel Pynbianglang Kurkalang (junior boys, below 60 kgs – K 1-Rule).

The two kickboxers have excelled and brought medals for the state in the recently concluded WAKO India cadets juniors & senior National Kickboxing Federation Cup 2017-18 held from January 16-20 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi and WAKO India cadets-Juniors & senior National Kickboxing Championship held from September 6-10, 2017 at Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The MSKA bagged as many as 8 gold, 5 silver and 11 bronze medals at the recently concluded at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

Warjri said it would be difficult for MSKA and its participants to reach Venice, Italy without logistics, infrastructural, financial support from stakeholders and the state government.

He added that MSKA got the opportunity to participate in Anapa, Russia with five representatives in May-June, 2018 but unfortunately missed due to paucity of funds and financial assistance/sponsors.
