SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister and senior NPP leader, Prestone Tynsong is optimistic that the decision of both UDP and NPP to field candidate in the Ranikor by-poll will not have any political ramification in the NPP-led MDA Government.

Informing that the former Congress leader, MM Danggo will be NPP’s candidate in the polls,   Tynsong said that there was no agreement in the MDA government that the coalition partners who are supporting the government cannot contest the elections

He said that it is the right of every political party to contest elections to sustain their identity   even as he added it depended on the wisdom of the voters of Ranikor constituency to elect their MLA

When asked about the claims of UDP and Congress that they were going to win the by-poll, he said that anybody could claim anything before the counting.

Recently, UDP chief Donkupar Roy confirmed Pius Marwein as the party candidate for the Ranikor by-poll.

Marwein was runners-up in both the 2013 and 2018 Assembly polls from Ranikor with M.M Danggo winning each time.

The UDP chief believes that the party will surely win the upcoming Ranikor by-poll since the party candidate (Marwein) had lost the election in February by a slender margin
