RKM’s initiative to protect Shella embankment

SHILLONG: The Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Sohra undertook a drive to protect the embankment of the river Shella which has gradually been swallowing the village of Kalatek and causes massive damage to live stock and individual houses during heavy rains.
The relief work started on June 23 and the first phase of the work is likely to continue for about two weeks.
RKM Sohra has extended its gratitude to the people of Kalatek, NK Realtors and Primarc Prabhudayal Charitable Trust of Kolkata, for their financial help.
The 123 BN of BSF also extended their support and joined in laying sand bags on the embankment.
