SHILLONG: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) chairman, PN Syiem convened a meeting wherein a section of different political party leaders from Ranikor constituency were present, with an objective to find a common candidate for impending by-poll in Ranikor Assembly constituency.
A representatives of the UDP, Congress (former supporters of Martin Danggo), NPP (supporters of Donkupar Massar), PDF, BJP were present at the meeting.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting on Thursday, Syiem said, “In the meeting we have come up with a decision to combine all the parties and come up with a common candidate.”
He added there would be series of meetings to discuss about the plan for a common candidate at Rangthong, Wahkaji, Nongjri and Ranikor where the common candidate will be declared and a coordination committee will be formed.
Syiem said, “A combined team, a common candidate will fight from the symbol of PDF. We need a common candidate as we want to see development in the field of education, health, transport etc.”
