HC orders re-arrest of constable in RPF officer’s killing

SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has ordered that the accused constable who was involved in the killing of an assistant commandant of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and injuring three others at Mawkyrwat during the Assembly polls earlier this year should be taken into custody.
The Court in its order said Arjun Deshwal who has been released from custody in compliance to order of the trial court shall be taken into custody in connection with the case and lodged in Shillong district jail to be produced before the trial court for trial on the scheduled date.
The Court order said that objection, if any, by the respondent be filed by or before the next date of hearing on July 9.
The order further said that the respondent Arjun Deshwal was released on bail by the additional district magistrate at Mawkyrwat on May 28.
It may be mentioned that Assistant Commandant Mukesh Tyagi was allegedly shot dead by constable Arjun Deshwal at the RPF camp in Mawkyrwat.
In the ensuing scuffle, another constable Joginder Kumar sustained bullet injury on his arm and was sent for treatment to NEIGRIHMS here.
