SHILLONG: The Sohra circle and Ri-War Shella Circle of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) have extended their support to the demand for upgrading Sohra Sub-Division to a district by Speaker Donkupar Roy.
In line with the demand made by Roy, the HYC in a statement issued here said upgrading the Sohra Sub-Division to a district would be an advantage to the people of the state which will bring the government close to the people.
The organization will meet the heads of traditional institutions and other leaders to discuss on the matter and urge the public representatives of Shella and Sohra constituencies to take the matter seriously.
