SHILLONG: The State Congress has reiterated that the party would field candidates in  the coming by-elections to both 35-Ranikor and 51-South Tura Assembly constituencies which have fallen vacant after resignation of sitting MLAs M M Danggo and Agatha Sangma respectively.

The working president of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), James Lyngdoh said that the Indian National Congress (INC) would field candidates in both 35-Ranikor and 51-South Tura constituencies as and when announcements for the by-elections to both constituencies are made

“At present the process of revamping the 35-Ranikor Block Congress Committee (RBCC) is being done by the team of BCC members led by its Convenor,” he said.

It may be mentioned that the former Congress leader,  M M Danggo recently resigned from the party and the post of MLA and Danggo will seek his re-election as an NPP candidate in the by-election.

Earlier, even NPP State president, WR Kharlukhi had  expressed doubt  that the Congress would  even get a candidate to contest in Ranikor by-poll after exit of its influential leader M M Danggo.
