SHILLONG: Amidst the blame game over  political appeasement and poaching of MLAs , the Ranikor Civil Sub  division will be inaugurated on July  10 by the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

The up gradation of Ranikor Administrative Block into a Civil Sub-division is in the news for some time now as earlier local MLA, MM Danggo  had made it clear that  he would resign from the Congress party and as an MLA the day when the Civil Sub  division  was inaugurated.

However, Danggo in a surprised move resigned much ahead of the inauguration of the block  and he is likely to join the NPP

The decision of Danggo to resign as an MLA necessitated  the need for a by poll and all the political parties have started preparing for the impending by-elections.

The entire political situation took a new turn in the state when Danggo expressed his desire to join NPP provided that the civil sub division was inaugurated  when  Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma  visited Ranikor recently.

Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma  had earlier denied that there was any political colour to the efforts of the State Government to declare Ranikor as a Civil Sub division.

Following the Government’s decision  to upgrade Ranikor into a civil sub division, the  National People’s Party (NPP) – led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government is facing a barrage of demands for the creation of new Civil Sub – divisions   from several MLAs both from the ruling as well as Opposition parties.
