SHILLONG: The last of the consultation meetings on Ranikor by-poll convened by KHADC chief executive member P N Syiem will be held in the city on Tuesday among likeminded parties.
Syiem has been holding a series of meetings to arrive at a consensus candidate to take on NPP candidate and former Congress MLA MM Danggo.
Sources said the choice will be between UDP’s Pius Marwein and Syiem.
Syiem said 50 leaders from different political parties in Ranikor will attend the co-ordination committee meeting.
Several leaders and supporters from PDF, UDP, Congress, BJP and NPP are expected to take part in the meeting.
The NPP members supporting Syiem are those who are no longer with former NPP candidate Don Massar.
Earlier, UDP local unit wanted the support of Congress whereas the latter decided to field party’s own candidates both in Ranikor and South Tura.
The Ranikor by-poll is expected to witness a multi-cornered contest.
