Shillong: The Meghalaya State Planning Board will submit a report to the State Government voicing its concern over the absence of roads along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

Disclosing this to reporters here on Monday, Co-Chairman of the MSPB, John F Kharshiing said that State Government should start construction of the roads in villages to help progress of the rural areas and make commuting easier.

He said the bordering villages were facing immense hardship due to lack of roads while adding that many of the border villages of Meghalaya are still using the Assam PWD roads.

Extracting findings from a recent survey by Dr Donkupar Roy, Chairman of MSPB, Kharshiing said the board found the existence of stone crushers along the border in Ri Bhoi district run by non-tribals who have employed large number of migrant labourers.
