2 NSCN-IM cadres killed in Arunachal Pradesh

GUWAHATI: Two hardcore cadres of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (IM) were killed in an encounter with security forces on Wednesday night at Sonya Noksa village in Longding district of eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
Acting on intelligence input regarding movement of NSCN-IM rebels between Longding and Khonsa, the security forces of DAO division launched an area domination patrol in vicinity of the said village on Wednesday night, Kohima-based defence spokesperson Col. Chiranjit Konwar informed.
The army personnel while approaching the village came under fire from an isolated hut, to which the Army retaliated with controlled fire and neutralized the two cadres.
Konwar said that during search operation lunched in early morning on Thursday the column found the hardcore cadres in combat dress who had succumbed to bullet injuries.
An AK series rifle, a pistol and some other incriminating documents were found on them. The search operation in the area is still in progress and their identity is being ascertained from police sources, he said.
