DG BSF takes stock of preparation before NRC draft publication

GUWAHATI: The Director General, Border Security Force (BSF)  , K K Sharma was on a two-day visit to the BSF frontier headquarter at Patgaon here  since Thursday to take the stock of border security scenario and security mechanism in the light of scheduled publication of final draft of the updated National Register of Citizens (NRC) on July 30 next. He was accompanied by Nasir Kamal, Additional  DG, BSF Spl DG HQ, Eastern Command, Kolkata.

On arrival at HQ Guwahati Frontier, DG BSF was given a Guard of Honor as per protocol and briefed about the prevailing security scenario in assigned area of responsibility. He reviewed the progress of implementation of technological solution i.e. BOLD-QIT project (Border Electronically Dominated – QRT Interception Technique) in unfenced reverine area of Brahmaputra and its tributaries rivers in Dhubri, Assam. 

The DG addressed troops of BSF Guwahati Frontier and during a Sainik Sammelan.  He appreciated the diligence and indefatigable efforts BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier on the Operational front resulting into massive decline in trans-border crimes particularly cattle smuggling and infiltration. He expressed his satisfaction over progress on implementation of BOLD-QIT project (Border Electronically Dominated – QRT Interception Technique).

While addressing the troops during Sainik Sammelan, DG, BSF apprised about ongoing enormous exercise of NRC process by Govt Assam and its security implication warranting heightened security mechanism and apparatus to deal with any emanating eventualities. He exhorted troops to maintain this heightened security and Ops plans should be modified as per prevailing modus operandi of trans-border criminals and anti- national elements. He emphasized that the latest technology should be implemented and incorporated with physical security to enhance the Operational efficacy and to have edge over the adversaries.
