SHILLONG: A complaint was lodged against two persons, who allegedly went to harass the city residents near the emergency fire service at Bara Bazar on Saturday evening.
The Shillong Times had reported bout the exploitation of the poor residents by four persons, who claim to own the area.
The FIR lodged by CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing on Saturday said that at around 7. 30 pm, she received a phone call from a lady informing that Pappu Singh and Harjan Singh, who were claiming the ownership of the small stretch of land near Ajmera Marble shop near the emergency fire service, threatened the residents. According to the FIR, the duo used to take illegal house rent of Rs 2000 each and on Saturday, they threatened to forcefully evict the residents on Sunday.
Kharshiing said a proper inquiry should be conducted to ensure that the human rights of the children and the residents are not violated and the persons who are illegally claiming the ownership of land should be booked as per law.
“Action should be taken against those who are claiming ownership and there should be a thorough probe into the alleged connivance of the government authorities”, she said.
