329 cases were disposed of during Lok Adalat

SHILLONG: As many as 329 cases were disposed of during the Lok Adalat held in many parts of the state on Saturday.
Under the patronage and guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, the Chief Justice, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, the National Lok Adalat under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
Cases were heard all across the state, in the High Court of Meghalaya, all district courts as well as sub-divisional courts and also in all the district council courts in Shillong, Jowai and Tura.
Around 1751 cases, including pre-litigation and pending cases involving criminal and civil cases as well as matters relating to default of payment of loans to banks and other related cases were taken up at the Lok Adalat and around 329 cases were disposed of, an official statement said.
The total amount of settlement is Rs 80,46,203.
