SHILLONG: KHADC Chief Executive Member Hispreaching Son Shylla has decided to go ahead with the appointment of the executive members of the new executive committee in the district council.
Shylla on Saturday said the court has not passed any stay order in regard to the elections of the CEM which was held on Friday and hence he would submit the names of the executive members of the new EC to the Governor probably by Monday.
He further said the legal counsel of the council is studying the petition filed by the PDF parliamentary party leader, James Ban Basaiawmoit before the Meghalaya High Court who alleged that the conduct of the election to the post of chief executive member was not as per rule.
The High Court in relation to the petition filed by the PDF parliamentary party leader on Friday had asked the state government, KHADC and pro-tem chairman to file a reply affidavit within a week’s time.
During the election held here, NPP member from Nongkrem, HS Shylla was elected unopposed after PDF-led People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate Grace Mary Kharpuri did not turn up for the election without withdrawing her candidature.
Earlier, Kharpuri had told reporters that the filing of nominations for the post on Wednesday was null and void since the chairman of KHADC had resigned from the post on Thursday.
