Public info campaign at Marbisu

SHILLONG: The Central flagship schemes of the Central Government were highlighted on the 2nd day of the Public Information Campaign being held at St. Paul’s Mini Stadium, Marbisu, Mawphlang Development Block of East Khasi Hills district on Wednesday.

At the technical session, the schemes highlighted were NRHM, SSA, MGNREGS, RTI etc.

Speaking on NRHM, S. Swer, Block Programme Manager, Mawphlang Block informed there are 196 ASHAs in the Block with 88 in Mawphlang, 77 in Sohiong and 31 at Nongspung.

Under the activities of the Village Health & Sanitation Committee, Rs.10000 is to be used for health and sanitation of a village as a whole, Swer said.

Speaking on SSA, JG. Nongkynrih, BMC, referred to the role of the Village Education Committees in improving enrolment in schools through the cluster resource centres.

Under TSC, B. Mawiong, Jr. Engineer, PHE said several toilets had been built for anganwadi centres, individual households, schools and women.

The government has sanctioned about 8000 individual toilets in Mawphlang Block, 250 toilets for schools, 80 for anganwadi centres and 15 for women sanitation complex.
