SRINAGAR: The second Jeet Kune Do Federation cup kick-started at S K Indoor stadium in the summer capital, here on Thursday.
Around 400 Martial Arts players, including national and international medalists, from 12 states are participating in the Federation cup, making it one of the biggest national level martial art event held in the Kashmir valley.
The event is being organized by J&K state Jeet Kune Do Association. Several top players, who have represented their states and country at various national and international events, dazzled the audience with their entertaining demonstrations.
The sword demonstration from Manipur struck a cord with the audience while the fight demonstration by two Kashmiri girl players received huge appreciation from the crowd.
The organizers said because of the negative image of the valley portrayed by a section of the media many teams got cancelled at the last minute.
“We had 18 teams who confirmed their participation in the Federation Cup but 6 teams declined at the last moment because of the news about unrest in the valley. But there is no problem as the situation is completely different then what is projected in the national valley,” Tanzeel Ahmad, the Organizing secretary of the Federation Cup, said. He said despite all odds, the event is going to be a success. (UNI)
