SHILLONG: Two bidders have responded to the tender issued by the State Government for the construction of the much delayed Information Technology Park in New Shillong Township.
Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohling said on Thursday that the government is presently assessing the papers of the bidders and the process of construction of the park will begin as soon as formalities are over.
The government recently issued tender for the project. When asked how the state government will manage huge resources for the project, Dohling said that this is the first phase of the construction and the government wants to ensure the creation of the park in a step by step manner.
The government’s vision is to develop an IT Park in New Shillong where 450 youths will be employed and the proposed park will cost around Rs 580 crore.
The project is complicated as the State has to compete with metro cities like Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata. The department is also contemplating road shows to invite IT players after the government’s nod on the final model.
