Suspension of internet service affects life in Manipur

Imphal: Internet, SMS services remained suspended for the second day on Saturday in Manipur . It completely affected in the entire state as people could not do any commercial and private activities due to absence of internet services. It will remain suspended till Monday.
The services were suspended since yesterday to stop alleged spread of rumours in social network sites due to the stir demanding removal of Manipur University, VC, Prof AP Pandey. Students continued to stage sit in protests near Manipur University, colleges as no action has been taken up against the VC .
When examinations and admission processes are going on in full swing the VC has again gone on leave. (UNI)
Amid the on-going stir in Manipur demanding the removal of Manipur University National People’s Party (NPP) chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday appealed to the agitating people and students to maintain peace and said through ”dialogue” the issue can be resolved.
‘We would like to appeal to all the people specially those who are agitating to maintain peace. With violence we cannot find a solution,” Sangma, whose party is a part of the Manipur government led by the BJP, told reporters here.
Sangma said, “I know lots of difficulties have been faced and there are lot of complains by the people but I am sure that through dialogue and discussions we can resolve this issue.” A report from Manipur said internet, SMS services remained suspended for the second day on Saturday in the state.
