SHILLONG: The youth wing of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) condemned the summons issued by the state police department to KHNAM youth wing vice president Iengskhem Suting regarding the agitation at Them Metor.
In a statement issued here, KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah said that the summons issued to local tribals and organisations by the police are attempts to instil a sense of fear among the people.
He claimed that there were photographs of the illegal settlers of Them Metor carrying swords and weapons at a time when 144 CrPC was imposed.
“Yet we did not see the state government arrest the people. Instead, the government is searching others. This partisan nature is not acceptable,” he added.
Passah asserted that the state government should instead find a solution on how to relocate the illegal settlers and to ensure safety and security in the state.
