TURA: A shocking case of rape has surfaced from Resubelpara in North Garo Hills in which a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl was repeatedly raped at difference places by 10 men.
The matter came to light after an FIR was filed by the family of the victim on Saturday at Resubelpara Police Station. According to police, after coming to know of the incident, village elders had called a meeting and even tried to persuade the family to compromise with the accused. However, the family did not relent and soon after filed an FIR.
Following the FIR, police were immediately able to arrest nine of the accused while one of them is said to be out of station.
The accused have been identified as Mithilson Marak (54), Leolin Momin (61), Jangsin Marak (60), Pullarson Marak (48), Becky Sangma (41), Raju Sangma (35), Raju Marak (32) and Prethinson Sangma while two others are juveniles.
