March 17: SSLC candidates get caught in massive traffic jam in city. Teary-eyed students reach examination hall over an hour after commencement of the examination.

May 4: 18-hour traffic jam hits commuters as Ri-Bhoi district administration conducts mobile court on NH-40. A patient who was referred to a Guwahati hospital died in an ambulance after being stuck for several hours.

NOVEMBER 15-16: Commuters spend an entire night on NH-44 between Mihmyntdu and Ladrymbai in Jaintia Hills after being caught in a traffic gridlock that lasted for over 24 hours.

DECEMBER 17: Passengers again forced to spend entire night stranded on the highway.

December 23: A two-and-a-half-year-old child of a city-based journalist, Section Syiemlieh, dies before being transported to the hospital as their vehicle was caught in a major traffic jam at Lad Rilbong point in the heart of the city.

December 31: One Phim Chyrmang (37) of Tuber-kmai Shnong in Jaintia Hills died on the way to hospital after she gave birth to a girl in a vehicle before reaching the hospital. Their vehicle was caught in a traffic gridlock for over two hours.
