January 2011: The State Traffic Police (STP) announced that they would take the help of social networking site Facebook where they would update the latest traffic situation in the city and the highways to make the people aware about the traffic scenario. In February they took the help of FM Radio to announce regular updates on the latest traffic situation.
March 2011: Ri-Bhoi District Administration prohibits plying of 14-wheeler trucks and trailer trucks in view of the four-laning work on NH-40.
MAY 2011: Govt announces setting up two electronic sign boards at Lumdiengjri and Mawlai to display the latest traffic situation on the highways.
AUGUST 2011: MTC announces floating tenders soon for a cable car project in the city.
