TURA: A 13-year-old mentally challenged girl was repeatedly raped at difference places by 10 men, three of whom are above 50 and two juveniles, in Resubelpara in North Garo Hills.
Nine of the 10 accused have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The matter came to light after the girl’s family filed an FIR at Resubelpara police station on Saturday.
According to police, after coming to know of the incident, village elders had called a meeting and even tried to persuade the family to compromise with the accused. However, the family did not relent and filed the complaint. Following the FIR, police arrested nine men and one is out of station.
The accused have been identified as Leolin Momin (61), Jangsin Marak (60), Mithilson Marak (54), Pullarson Marak (48), Becky Sangma (41), Raju Sangma (35), Raju Marak (32) and Prethinson Sangma while two others are juveniles.
