Niti Aayog to partner with  Meghalaya for work out blueprint of state’s development

SHILLONG: Niti Aayog and Meghalaya government have decided to work as partners for developing a blue print for Meghalaya’s development.

Talking to media persons after holding a marathon meeting with Chief Minister and senior officials of the government Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog, Rajiv Kumar  said that the meeting discussed about   developmental programmes and policies of the state government.

He said that he is very impressed with the   developmental programmes initiated by the State Government in different sectors like Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructure Development, New Meghalaya by 2022 and the upcoming National Games.

The meeting also discussed about the constraints which the state faces like the lack of trained teachers, lack of electricity connection in schools and poor mobile connectivity in border area.

“We will take up all these issues with the line Ministry and the Union Government and if Meghalaya Government faces any difficulty over anything, we  will try to help,” he said.

He also informed that the Meghalaya Government was contemplating to go for major PPP investment in tourism sector where they will invite private investment and the Aayog will help the state in this regard.

On the other hand, Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said that   the meeting was detailed with presentations from almost all the departments and various works and challenges were brought to the forefront and Rajiv Kumar  has responded positively  and assured support to resolve all the pending issues.

When asked about the blueprint for Meghalaya, Sangma said that the blue print would allow the government to see the challenges in all the department separately and allow the state to work in a time-bound manner.
