TURA: The rape accused who was arrested by North Garo Hills Police for committing the crime against his own 10 year old step daughter at Nameram Village under Kharkutta police station has been transferred to the Tura District Jail.

The accused, Jaseng D Shira (36) was caught red handed by villagers while he was molesting his minor step daughter and given a sound thrashing before he was handed over to the Dainadubi police outpost of the same district on Tuesday. Following his arrest, Shira was forwarded on the same day to a Court in Tura and a case under POCSO registered against him.

Earlier quoting the victim, police had revealed that this was not a one off incident and that the accused had raped the victim on numerous other occasions. Residents from the area had also revealed that Shira used to take advantage of the mother’s absence and regularly rape the victim.

However, while interrogation by police is currently underway, Shira is yet to completely confess to the crime.

“He has admitted that he used to regularly molest the victim. But he is yet to confess to the actual rape. We will find out more in the course of the interrogation,” the Officer in charge of investigating the crime said.
