Women activists file FIR against terror mongers

SHILLONG: Women activists CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, TUR member Angela Rangad and editor of The Shillong Times, Patricia Mukhim on Thursday filed an FIR against certain individuals for making threats over their stand on the amended KHADC lineage bill 2018.
In the FIR, the three women stated that one Banshan Nongtri has incited death threats to anyone opposing the bill passed by the KHADC.
Nongtri has also spread hatred and incited terror by proposing the KHADC to pass a bill to kill all those who marry non tribals.
The FIR also stated that another person Batskhemkupar Bondz Lanzer Thabah has incited rape and used obscene language on social media disrespecting women and another person Yan Lymba stated on social media that women who oppose the bill should be hacked.
According to the FIR, they have also observed a post shared to a well wisher through whatsapp number 9612220226 which has slandered, defamed and outraged the modesty of three women. Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tynsong appealed the people to abstain from making derogatory remarks. Meanwhile, Superintendent of police, Davis Marak informed that an FIR has been filed and a case under IT Act has been registered in Sadar police station and endorsed to a gazetted officer.
