Reds drub Sawmer 5-1

SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong won their first game against Sawmer Sports Club by 5-1 in what was an exciting encounter of the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium Shillong on Saturday.
Lajong broke the deadlock early in the 6th minute after centre back Kenstar Kharshong’s header was on target and entered the back of the net. The second goal came from Lajong Captain, Sheen Sohktung in the 20th minute from inside the box and it sailed to the bottom right corner of the net.
Sawmer managed to pull one back after they were awarded a penalty and it was Rheadulf Nongneng who converted from the spot in the 67th minute.
Phrangki Buam then netted Shillong Lajong’s third goal from inside the box and this gave the Lajong boys that added advantage in the game.
Shillong Lajong were then on the counter in the 88th minute and this time it was Mahesh from the left wing making a brilliant run and slotted the ball past the keeper.
Shillong Lajong will play their next match on the August 9 against Meghalaya Police.
