RKM principal, teacher held for student’s suicide

SHILLONG: The principal and a teacher of Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Secondary School in Bholaganj have been arrested for abetment of suicide of a Class IX student.
The girl hanged herself and named the duo in her suicide note.
According to the complaint of Ranjan Devnath, on August 4 evening, his 18-year-old daughter was found hanging in their residence at Nayabasti village in Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills.
Police said the girl, in her suicide note, held teacher Ramabir Chakraborty and the principal responsible for her death.
Sources said the girl wrote that she was taking tuitions from Chakraborty and when she stopped, she was failed in the examinations  and this compelled her to commit suicide.
When contacted, officials at Ramakrishna Mission Sohra said details of the incident are not yet clear and they have sent their officials to Bholaganj to inquire.
