Vigil mounted in Guwahati airport before I-day

GUWAHATI: Sniffer dogs have been pressed into action  in Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport at Borjhar here to augment security measures in the run up to Independence Day celebrations in the State.

Security measures and vigil have been mounted round the clock throughput the state by Assam police to prevent any untoward incident before the I-day. All vehicles travelling along the highway in many parts of the state are being thoroughly checked by the police and paramilitary forces as precautionary measure.

A senior police official said that a three-layer security ring had been thrown in and around Khanapara Veterinary College Playground where the central celebration of I-Day will be held.
