NPP MLA alleges infiltration of foreigners

SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP), MLA from Jirang constituency, Sosthenes Sohtun alleged the infiltration of some foreigners entering Meghalaya through Sukurburia and other villages bordering Meghalaya and Assam in Ri-Bhoi District, under Jirang Constituency.

In a letter to the state Home Minister James Sangma, Sohtun viewed the situation as very serious which needs to be addressed as it affects the people of his constituency and the state in general.

He also requested the Home Minister to pass necessary orders to the Deputy Commissioner, Ri-Bhoi District and the Superintendent of Police, Ri-Bhoi District to monitor illegal immigration of foreigners in the state.
