London: Singer Aretha Franklin has called off her summer wedding to longtime partner William Wilkerson.
The 69-year-old hitmaker cancelled the planned nuptials, saying things had started moving a “little too fast” in their relationship.
Frankling, who is notoriously secretive about her private life, had announced her engagement to Wilkerson in January and they were planning to marry in Florida, in June or July.
“Regretfully, To Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly.
There will be no wedding at this time,” the couple said in a statement. “We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends.”
The Grammy-winning singer did not comment on the current status of her relationship.
Franklin, who has four children, has been married twice. (PTI)
