Preparation for South Tura by-poll reviewed

SHILLONG: In poll-bound South Tura, the IGP NES, CRPF, Prakash D reviewed the election preparedness with laying stress on effective communication network.

An election review meeting was held on Saturday in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at South Tura to review the election scenario there.

The security aspects to hold a free, fair and impartial poll was reviewed. The strong room/EVM security measures were also discussed.

The deployment of forces at the polling booths well before the poll day was discussed. All the men were advised to adopt a voter-friendly approach especially towards women.

The IGP CRPF drew the attention towards availability of medical and emergency facilities during the poll day.

The IG also visited a few CRPF camps in Tura and interacted with the men.

The bye-election to the South Tura seat will be held simultaneously with Ranikor Assembly constituency in the state on August 23 and the counting will be held on August 27.
