BSF reiterates stand on arrested youths

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) has reiterated that the three youths who were arrested earlier this month have link with the HNLC.

Talking to The Shillong Times here on Tuesday, BSF PRO Ravi Gandhi said, “Our trans border forces have suggested that they were associated with the banned outfit.”

According to him, the BSF never stated that the trio — Paila Tynsong (27), Mathius Khonglah (18) and Edamon Kongwang (22) – were members of the rebel outfit.

“Earlier we only stated that they are suspected to be inkmen of HNLC and we stand by our statement” he added.

The State police, however, contradicted the BSF claim.

The three youths were apprehended by the BSF while they were crossing over to the Indian border from Bangladesh on January 12 without valid documents.
