Govt to look into problems of Koch community: CM

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has assured that his government would look into grievances of people from Koch community.

Addressing the 38th annual Koch conference on its concluding day at Bebedpara, Selsella, on Wednesday, Dr Sangma also praised the Meghalaya Koch Association for taking up several innovative initiatives which he felt would empower them in different ways particularly in the areas of employment and self reliance.

The conference began on January 23.

The Chief Minister reminded the locals present that they have to improve their standard of education in order to compete with the best within the state as well as outside the state.

He also advised the parents to encourage a better environment for education for their children.

He urged people to take the schemes presented to them by the government seriously and utilize them to avail maximum benefit.

Among others who spoke on the occasion included PK Sangma, Chief Executive Member, GHADC and Clement Marak, Co-Chairman of State Planning Board. Among other dignitaries present at the occasion were Zeneth Sangma, Co-Chairman Planning Board, Abdus Saleh, Parliamentary Secretary; LD. Shira, MLA; Billykid A Sangma, ex-MLA, Tura.
