SHILLONG: The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Controller of Examination (CE) has clarified that re-evaluation of answer scripts is not a time-bound exercise, however, every effort is made to announce the results of re-evaluated answer scripts at the earliest.

Reacting to the news item “Undergraduate students in a quandary – Oblivious NEHU delays re-evaluation results” (ST Jan 25), the CE said the cases of re-evaluation is processed after all undergraduate results are declared which are normally announced in the last week of July each year and thereafter, the process of scrutiny of each application is made on the eligibility of the application.

“The number of applications received for re-evaluation for the various undergraduate courses exceeds 25% of the original examination on average. The university is deeply concerned on the plight of the students who are awaiting the results of re-evaluation and every effort is being made for the speedy and expeditious re-evaluation by the concerned examiners,” said the CE.

While acknowledging the delay in declaring the 2011 re-evaluation results the CE said, “It is a fact that the results of re-evaluation cases of 2011 have been slightly delayed, even though, a number of re-evaluation results have since been declared. The remaining results of re-evaluation will be announced shortly before commencement of the next undergraduate examination 2012.”
