Congress launches big offensive against Mayawati

The Congress Party has launched a major offensive against Mayawati government on various fronts including farmers, bad governance, rise in incidents of rape and assaults on women especially dalits to emerge as front runner and eventually form the government through Mission 2012.

Under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh, the party has also started making preparations for assembly polls and finalization of candidates. Enthused by the success of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Bhatta Persaul, Congress Party is working very hard to enlist the support of farmers for the party in coming months. As a apart of the preparations for forthcoming elections, Congress Party has sent hundreds of youth congress workers to western UP villages to get first hand information about problems of the farmers.

Under the directives of Rahul Gandhi personally, the Youth Congress workers have been given forms to get them filled by the farmers about the land acquisition and other issues in their areas in the past four years of Mayawati government. UPCC President Rita Bahuguna Joshi has already announced that the party would hold kisan panchayats in various parts of the state to assess the problems of the farmers and seek solution. Shocked by the increase in incidents of rape and atrocities on women especially dalits, State Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that party would organise demonstrations in state capital and other parts of the state.

Joshi said State Mahila Congress too had been asked to organize demonstrations during first week of July to focus on inaction of Mayawati government.

The State Congress president condemned the incidents of rape against women in Nighasan, in Lakhimpur Kheri Etah, Bijnore, Kannauj, Etah, Firozabad, Lalitpur and Gorakhpur. UPCC President also demanded scrapping of State Women Commission for its inaction on such as sensitive issue. She alleged that State Women Commission was working as BSP agent. Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that it was a matter of same that such incidents were taking place when the state is ruled by a woman. She alleged that the rise in the incidents of rape was attributed to protection of criminals by BSP leaders.

Regarding the preparations of the party for elections, the meting of election panel held in the Lucknow in the presence of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi decided that the party would not have any pre or post alliance with BJP, SP or BSP. Congress meet also decided that the issue of party joining hands with smaller parties like RLD, Peace Party and others would be decided by Rahul Gandhi.

The election panel would against meet in Lucknow next week and decide on those seats where there is no differences amongst the leaders and rest would be left for more negotiations.

Congress Party has also decided to come out with charge-sheet against Mayawati government and distribute it in every village.

UPCC president said that party would organize series of conferences in various parts of state. The meetings would be attended by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi beside other locals. The purpose of these meetings is to educate the people about the large sale scams. (IPA)
