TURA: The GNLA has accused the ANVC of carrying arms and operating in the Mendipather zone of East Garo Hills and warned the State Government that it can lead to a bloody feud for which the government will have to take the blame for the high casualty because they allegedly encouraged the ceasefire group to operate freely.
GNLA political secretary Bikdot Nikjang Marak on Friday evening spoke to reporters to inform them that the ANVC cadres have been spotted in Mendipather-Resubelpara civil sub-division of East Garo Hills carrying arms trying to infiltrate villages and challenge his members. “We have got confirmed reports that police are allowing ANVC to operate freely in East Garo Hills and we are ready to take on them. The Meghalaya Government will have to take the responsibility for the large casualty figure which will not happen from our side,” warned the GNLA political secretary.
The militant group went on to say that more government officials would be targetted if it continued to allow a ceasefire group to violate the ground rules.
“The ANVC has been making a lot of talk about challenging us. They should transform that talk to action because we are ready to give them a fitting reply,” said Marak.
