Babies born inside ambulance

SHILLONG: A baby boy was born in a 108 ambulance on Friday. The staff nurse on duty which was based in Laskein PHC referred the pregnancy case to a higher centre but when the ambulance was on its way and on reaching Raliang the mother identified as Uniki Langstang (24)gave birth inside the ambulance with the help of Rukapaia Bamon of 108 Laskein based ambulance. Both mother and son were shifted to Raliang PHC and are doing well.
In a similar incident on the same day, the doctor on duty in Umsning CHC referred the pregnancy case to a higher centre but while the ambulance was on its way to Shillong, the patient identified as Joblin Nongbri (26) went into labor for which EMT Nisha Shangplaing of 108 Umsning based conducted the delivery and a healthy baby girl was born.The mother and child were shifted to Ganesh Das Hospital and are doing well.
