KOHIMA: The Nagaland Department of School Education has requested the agitating Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) to submit a detailed list of the incumbents, who were transferred along with the posts out of these districts, in ‘shortest possible time.’
Official sources said School Education and SCERT informed that ever since the ENSF had submitted their 5-point Charter of Demand in July 2011, at least four informal discussions were convened by Minister School Education with the ENSF and officers of the Department on the issue of recruitment of teachers and restoration of posts transferred from the Eastern Nagaland Jurisdiction
Following the submission of another representation to the Chief Secretary by the ENSF on Jan 16, 2012, stating that unless the demands were fulfilled it would boycott the teacher’s recruitment, the Minister of School Education convened a meeting with ENSF and officers of the Department on January 17 and apprised of the action taken by the Department on the Five-Point Charter of Demands.
He requested ENSF to allow its members to appear the recruitment examination so that the selected teachers should not lose their seniority.
Regarding the filling up of vacancies arising within the districts, it mentioned that for the past few years only the inhabitants of the respective districts have been appointed against the resultant vacancies while the practice of transfer along with post has been discontinued for quite sometime.
With regard to the advertisement for recruitment of 2806 Primary Teachers and Graduate Teachers under SSA/RMSA made in December 2011, it said this was inclusive of 819 posts for the districts of Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng. The total number of posts created under SSA/RMSA was specifically made on the basis of enrolment of the school covering all the eleven districts, it informed.
It may be mentioned here that the ENSF is continuing their agitation in four districts of Nagaland, in Mon, Longleng, Tuensang and Kiphire by closing Government offices since January 25 last. (UNI)
