SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has made it clear that the UDP and NPP will continue to be a part of the MDA coalition even if either one of them wins the Ranikor by-poll.
“We will continue to be in the coalition and this is the beauty of democracy,” he said.
Earlier too, NPP senior leaders had downplayed the rivalry in Ranikor saying it was an example of perfect democracy.
The chief minister’s remark comes a day after his deputy, Prestone Tynsong said that UDP’s win would not affect MDA. “Even if UDP wins, there is no problem as the party is part of the MDA coalition.”
Sangma also reiterated his confidence that he would win the South Tura by-poll after seeing the response of the public in the constituency.
Results for the by-polls will be declared on Monday.
