CSWO for inquiry into brothels in Silchar

SHILLONG:The CSWO has urged the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to initiate an inquiry on the number of brothels operating in Silchar, Assam.

In a statement forwarded to the chairperson of NCPCR, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that an inquiry must be initiated to  so that minor children who are being harassed in the brothels can be rehabilitated and are able to live a decent life.

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya and Assam police in a joint operation last week rescued four girls between the age group of nine and 28 from a red-light area in Silchar.However, there are still many minor children who are being trafficked and forced to become sex worker.
