SHILLONG: Along with other parts of the country, Meghalaya is also all set to start the measles-rubella campaign on September 24.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare informed that around 24 states have already started or carried out the campaign in the country, adding that more than 10 crore children are already safely vaccinated nationally.
The state government is seeking active co-operation from heads of schools, teachers, parents, community leaders and public representatives as it is the state’s biggest vaccination campaign that covers children from the age of nine months to 15 years.
The health department said that all children irrespective of the fact that they have been previously
immunized or not for measles-rubella will have to be covered and no child should be missed.
The vaccines are WHO certified and completely safe. Northeast states like Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh & Manipur have successfully covered over 95% of children,” the source added.
