TURA: Several organisations from Phulbari region in West Garo Hills have urged the GHADC to be cautious while issuing land pattas and Trading for Non-tribals (TNT0 licenses to non-tribals belonging to the plain belt areas of the district.

Organisations like the GSU, AYWO, FKJGP, FAF, AAYF, ADE and ASWA from Phulbari region on Friday submitted a letter to GHADC CEM, Dipul R Marak requesting him not to issue land documents and TNT licenses for the said areas without proper verification.

“People from outside are taking advantage of the situation to encroach into Garo Hills through the plain belt areas. The GHADC must be careful in issuing these documents to non-tribals from the area,” the organisations said.

With regard to TNT licenses, the organizations claimed that there have been many reports of the same being obtained by people without producing even a single document. They added that if and when these documents are issued, producing proper police verification, NOC of Nokma and NGOs like themselves should be made compulsory.
