Festival of the hottest chilli attracts visitors at Sirarakhong

Imphal: Hundreds of people from all over the state and other parts of the country visited Sirarakhong to see and buy one of the hottest chillies, the U Morok, also known as King Chilli. A three day festival of the 9th Hathei Phanit, Sirarakhong concluded on Friday. The festival was organised by the Sirarakhong Hathei Phanit Promotion Committee and Sirarakhong Villagers sponsored by NEC through EBADA Manipur, Horticulture and Soil Conservation and Manipur Organic Mission Agency. Education, Labour & Employment Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that Hathei which grows only in the Sirarakhong village is a beautiful gift of god that signifies the village. Every individual gathered here is all because of Hathei (chilli). (UNI)
