SHILLONG/ GUWAHATI: The state government is keeping a close watch to prevent any flood in Garo Hills following the northeast-wide alert after warning from China.
Additional chief secretary in-charge revenue and disaster management PW Ingty said, “We are keeping a vigil and an alert has been already sounded for preparedness.”
West Garo Hills deputy commissioner Ram Singh told The Shillong Times on Saturday evening that the district administration was closely monitoring the water level and no floods were reported from anywhere in the district till date.
“People have been alerted. We are in touch with the Upper Assam district administration also. We will get alerts,” Singh said.
